Traditional Lost Wax Casting

Georgia’s two latest sculptures are now complete:

Barred Owl 2015
Edition of 15.
14”H x 7”W x 6”D

The sculptures are shown below in the rubber molding phase. The mold allows the creation of hollow wax replicas of the clay sculptures. The wax form then goes through the Lost Wax Casting process in the foundry, ending up as a bronze that is nearly identical to the original clay. Since the wax is “lost” in the process, each casting requires a new wax replica – so the rubber molds are used multiple times. Generally, Georgia limits her editions to 15, keeping one for her estate.
