10th Annual Plein Air & More Arts Festival

SCHEDULE

Georgia Gerber will be returning to Cannon beach for the Plein Air & More event and again will sculpt in Clay.  Georgia will sculpt outside in the sculpture garden in front of the gallery on Spruce across from the Cannon Beach Park & Info Center. 

This year’s Plein Air & More Art Festival will be held here in Cannon Beach on June 26, 27, and 28, 2015. The prestigious Southwest Art Magazine  covers the event. Public Choice winner & Award of Excellence Winner are selected. Georgia Gerber won the Public Choice Award this year for her life size bronze “Colt & Turtle”. Georgia is pictured working in clay the initial step in the clay to bronze, traditional lost wax casting method for bronze casting .

Reception with Jazz Guitarist Bobcat Bob |  Sineann  Wines presented by Patrick McELLIGOTT  | With artists Jeff White, Douglas Granum, Ivan McLean, Hazel Schlesinger & Georgia Gerber Noted Public Sculptor & Master of the Bronze medium.
Georgia Gerber  brings forth the essence of her subject matter using the lost wax traditional casting technique. “Tufted Puffins” , created for Cannon Beach, grace our City as part of the communities permanent Public Art Collection, selected by Public Choice Vote. Gerber’s work defines many of our favorite NW Public Places and moments in our lives as photo ops including, “Rachel, the Pike Place Pig ” at the Market in Seattle .and 26 sculptures in downtown Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square, depicting Oregon Wildlife. Georgia will join us for the upcoming 7th Annual Plein Air & More Arts Festival June 26, 27 & 28th covered by the prestigious Southwest Art Magazine. Gerber won the People’s Choice vote last year for her life size “Colt with Turtle” which was created for a Public Art Project in Overland Park, Kansas, “Prairie Fire .”

A native of Cannon Beach, Hazel is a member of the prestigious American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America. Her work has been featured in Southwest Art Magazine, and has appeared in the TV series “Leverage” as well as commercials distributed worldwide. Hazel is a member of the Hawaii Plein Air Society and will join us for the 7th Annual Plein AIr & More Arts Festival. Hazel will also paint “en plein air” on the North end .Painting Haystack Rock a favorite subject .

Public Sculptor 

One of 10 Sculptors selected for the Newport Beach Sculpture Park in Newport Beach California for a 108″ Stainless Steel Sphere. His numerous Public Sculptures  can be seen throughout  Portland’s Pearl District. The Nines Hotel in downtown Portland has a nine foot tall hammered Bronze Sculpture,  Wood Sculpture throughout , and Kiln Formed  Glass  Panels created for the Hotel. He has just installed six large stainless steel Spheres on Hollywood Boulevard directly across from Beverly Hills.

OPB TV feature artist. Oregon Art Beat. Jeff paints the splendor of our natural world in the Northwest in pursuit of the ethereal & atmospheric light our region is known for.  Paintings in Public Places:  The Hawaii Temple Visitor Center,  Seattle Maritime Museum,  & San Francisco Bay Wildlife  Refuge.  Collections Include; Schnitzer Steel,  Clint Eastwood, & the performer Joanna Newson. Jeff will join us for the 7th Annual Plein Air & More Arts Festival covered by the prestigious Southwest Art Magazine, June 26, 27, & 28.

Bronze sculpture

Douglas works in sculpture with stone, steel & bronze.  He created the bronze sculpture for the Gig Harbor History Museum called “The Big Catch”, based on a 1909 photograph of a cannery worker with a King Salmon taken by Asahel Curtis.  For the 7th Annual Plein Air & More Arts Festival  he is creating a sterling silver canoe cast  from  an earlier carved wooden canoe utilizing scanning technology working with  by Rob Arps who has also worked with Georgia Gerber on sculpture projects . Rob Arps will be here as part of the festival to talk about this new technology.

Jeff White joins us again!  Oregon oil painter Jeff White is known for his Skyscapes & Landscapes . He paints the splendor of our natural world in the Northwest in pursuit of the ethereal and atmospheric light. His work is also known to visitors of public places of national historic beauty such as the visitor center in the Columbia River Gorge, The Hawaii Temple Visitor Center and the Seattle Maritime Museum to name just a few such projects.
